When eight people gathered in a borrowed church building to launch what would become Manassas Baptist Church over 135 years ago, Manassas was a quaint town. As the years passed, this modest town transformed into a vibrant city, and the church evolved alongside it.
At the turn of the new millennium, Manassas Baptist Church recognized the need for a deeper sense of community as the city continued to grow. Embracing this vision, the church made a bold move in 2002 by expanding its campus with the purchase of the former Marsteller Middle School, thus creating ‘The Rock’ Community Center.
The Rock quickly became a cornerstone of our community, embodying an innovative approach to church life. It offered a dynamic space for contemporary worship, youth activities through “The Hub,” the Upward Sports league, MBC Preschool, and numerous community organizations. Its influence and outreach seemed to grow with each passing day.
In 2024, as part of a new chapter in our commitment to the community, Manassas Baptist Church decided to sell The Rock Building to the City of Manassas. This decision reflects our continued dedication to supporting the community’s evolving needs and ensuring that The Rock remains a central, accessible resource for all.
At Manassas Baptist, we believe in the power of coming together – whether it's sharing a meal or playing on the basketball court. We invite everyone, no matter where you are on your faith journey, to join us in this ongoing experience of life and community.
